ALMAG in the treatment of asthma: impact, effectiveness, contraindications

Scientific research confirms that magnetotherapy is a kind of activator of biological processes that enhances the metabolism within and between cells by influencing charged particles.

Therefore, it is often used in the treatment of many diseases along with drug treatment. ALMAG is an affordable device for home magnetotherapy for bronchial asthma.

What is ALMAG

ALMAG is a physiotherapeutic device consisting of a pulse generator and an impact unit in the form of four interconnected inductor coils, which are applied to certain parts of the patient’s body.

The pulse frequency of the apparatus coincides with the range of biologically active frequencies of the human body (4-16 hertz). The pulsed magnetic field spreads in tissues to a depth of 8 cm, affecting internal organs, including the lungs and bronchi, therefore, it can be used, for example, to treat asthma.

The advantage of ALMAG is its small size, which makes the device suitable for home use.

The principle of the device

ALMAG is capable of generating three types of magnetic fields: constant, alternating and traveling pulsed (BIMP). The latter has the most pronounced therapeutic effect.

BIMP restores normal electromagnetic potentials of cells, accelerates redox processes, activates metabolism, stimulating the restoration and regeneration of damaged tissues.

Different systems of human organs are sensitive to the magnetic field: the nervous system, the endocrine, cardiovascular, respiratory system, the digestive tract and the musculoskeletal system.

ALMAG has a healing effect on the lungs, improves the condition of the bronchi, which are primarily affected by bronchial asthma.

When using the device, the following processes occur in the body:

  • increase in bronchial patency due to the removal of spasm of smooth muscles of the bronchial tree;
  • improving oxygen supply by restoring the airways and, as a result, eliminating hypoxia;
  • reduction of inflammation and edema of the walls of the bronchi;
  • improvement of microcirculation in lung tissues due to vasodilation, opening of narrowed capillaries, reducing blood viscosity;
  • stimulation of sputum discharge due to the synchronization of the work of the villi of the bronchial epithelium, the movement of which removes mucus from the respiratory tract.

Effectiveness of ALMAG in the treatment of asthma

All the above-described effects allow the use of ALMAG in such diseases of the respiratory system as bronchial asthma, chronic bronchitis, pneumonia. Asthma is a chronic disease and is characterized by either subsidence or resumption of symptoms. The device can be used when acute manifestations subside, in the interictal period, as well as after stopping an attack of suffocation.

It has been scientifically proven that after a course of BIMP therapy:

  • the need for fast-acting drugs that relieve spasm decreases;
  • nocturnal attacks of suffocation stop;
  • there is a decrease in the frequency of attacks during the day;
  • cough is relieved;
  • the amount of sputum decreases.

Treatment is equally effective for any nature of asthma: both endogenous and exogenous. But a positive and quick result from the use of the device can be obtained primarily with a mild course of the disease, and to a lesser extent with moderate and severe course.

ALMAG has proved itself well for the prevention of exacerbations, because under the influence of a magnetic field, the secretion of the bronchi liquefies and is easily excreted, there is no mucus retention in the respiratory tract.

In addition, against the background of a decrease in inflammation, bronchial tissues become less sensitive to allergens and agents that cause an attack. This allows you to reduce the frequency of exacerbations, prolong periods of remission and improve the general condition of the bronchial tree.

The problem of the presence of several diseases in a patient at once is also urgent. So, disturbances in the digestive system (heartburn, belching, bitterness in the mouth) can provoke an exacerbation of asthma. The ALMAG device allows it to be applied to several areas of the human body at once.

Asthmatics with gastrointestinal tract pathology can alternate the places of application of the device overlays (chest and epigastric region) to achieve maximum effect and long-term remission of diseases.

Rules for using the device

ALMAG is used in asthma therapy for adults and children from 1.5-2 years of age. Before the procedure, you must read the instructions for the device, and strictly follow it.

In order to ensure the deep impact of BIMP on the lung tissue, the inductors of the device are applied to the patient’s back in the projection of the bronchi. It is undesirable to do this in the chest area from the side of the heart in order to exclude the influence of the device on its operation.

Treatment is best done once a day on an empty stomach or 2-3 hours after eating.

Before the procedure, the patient takes off his clothes from the upper half of the body, since the effect of the magnetic field is more effective when the apparatus is close to the skin. Then the patient takes a half-sitting position or lying on his stomach. The position should be comfortable, because you cannot move during the session.

After assessing the readiness of the device, the apparatus is placed on the upper back between the shoulder blades (in the projection of 1-4 thoracic vertebrae). The average duration of therapy with the ALMAG device is 10-20 minutes. On the first day, the shortest exposure time is chosen, then it is gradually increased to the maximum.

Since asthma is characterized by a chronic course, magnetotherapy is carried out periodically, in repeated courses.

The course of treatment lasts 10-20 days with a break for every 7th day. It is also necessary to abandon the procedure on the days when it was necessary to stop an attack of suffocation with the help of drugs.

After completing the first course, the second is prescribed in a month, the subsequent courses – with an interval of 2-3 months.

If the patient receives constant medication, inhalations or other physiotherapy (reflexotherapy, acupuncture, etc.), then before using ALMAG, you should consult a specialist.

Contraindications and side effects

When using the device, remember the following contraindications:

  • acute period of inflammatory diseases (acute respiratory infections, sinusitis with fever, etc.);
  • the presence of bleeding and blood pathologies, leading to a deterioration in coagulability;
  • low blood pressure;
  • pustular skin lesions;
  • severe heart disease (coronary artery disease, early postinfarction period);
  • the first 3 weeks of rehabilitation after a stroke;
  • pregnancy;
  • neoplasms;
  • thyrotoxicosis;
  • implanted pacemaker.

During the procedure, patients may experience drowsiness, mild reactions in the form of difficulty breathing, increased coughing. However, they go away on their own and do not require discontinuation of treatment.

There may be slight soreness, redness of the skin and a feeling of warmth at the place of application of the device. These are normal phenomena when exposed to the apparatus, and as the course progresses, they disappear.

Finally

So, the ALMAG device can be used to treat bronchial asthma in addition to drug therapy.

It not only reduces the frequency of asthma attacks, but also has a systemic effect. At the same time, it contributes to the restoration of disturbed functions and the general improvement of the body.
