Cardiac asthma is one of the types of complications after acute cardiac and other pathologies, which is accompanied by severe shortness of breath and suffocation. Many people confuse this disease with a pathology such as bronchial asthma, but this is a serious misconception. In fact, cardiac asthma has little to do with bronchial asthma, although there are still some similarities.
Attacks of cardiac asthma occur due to increased physical and emotional stress, due to the transfer of severe stress. Most often, their manifestations occur at night, because at this time the flow of blood to the lungs is seriously increased.
The attacks themselves are characterized by shortness of breath, shortness of breath, heavy breaths, frequent bouts of intense dry cough and panic attacks. The duration of each attack can be either one to two minutes or several hours. In the most severe and complex cases, pulmonary edema begins to develop during the attack, after which the patient may die. Therefore, it is extremely important to identify an ambulance immediately after identifying the very first signs of cardiac asthma , which, incidentally, are very similar to symptoms of bronchial asthma.
Causes of Cardiac Asthma
This disease is not an independent pathology. It develops as a complication after certain diseases, a list of which we will now write in more detail:
- Heart diseases: different types of heart failure, heart defects, coronary heart disease, heart defects, heart aneurysm;
- Tumors on the heart and intracardiac thrombi;
- Hypertonic disease;
- Circulatory disorders in the vessels of the brain: hemorrhagic and ischemic stroke;
- Various infectious pathologies: acute glomerulonephritis and pneumonia.
There is also a list of factors that increase the likelihood of developing cardiac asthma:
- Excessive stress
- Improper lifestyle: drinking excessive amounts of alcohol, drugs, nicotine;
- Nightly meals and water in excess;
- Frequent lying down;
- The introduction of a large volume of fluid intravenously.
All of these factors increase the risk of developing cardiac asthma . If you are nevertheless given such a diagnosis, in no case do not start taking the drugs yourself. Indeed, many confuse the treatment of bronchial asthma with the treatment of cardiac asthma, and this is fraught with serious health consequences.
